The president just “secretly” signed into law, a bill, HR347, which will allow prosecutors to charge anyone who enters a building without permission or with the intent to disrupt a government function with a federal offense, if the Secret Service is on the scene. However, the law stretches to include not just the president’s palatial Pennsylvania Avenue home. Under the law, any building or grounds where the president is visiting — even temporarily — is covered, as is any building or grounds “restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance.”
Section (c) of the act defines the key phrase “restricted buildings” as follows:

The phrase “Restricted buildings or grounds” means any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area;
(A) of the White House or its grounds, or the Vice President’s official residence or its grounds;
(B) of a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting; or
(C) of a building or grounds so restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance

Under the terms of the existing law amended by this act, the Department of Homeland Security, affectionately referred to as “Big Sis” by Matt Drudge, is tasked with deciding which events will qualify as being of “national significance.”
There have been nearly three dozen events in all which have been considered a National Special Security Event (NSSE) since the term was created under President Clinton. Among past events on the DHS-sanctioned NSSE list are Super Bowl XXXVI, the funerals of Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford, most State of the Union addresses and the 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions.

Surely this law will be challenged all the way to the Supreme Court and found to be unconstitutional. While the bill is scarey enough on its own, what’s even more alarming is that it passed with bipartisan support in both houses.

Is Michelle really and truly a conservative deep down? Maybe she doesn’t even know it? From the book, “The Obamas” by Jodi Kantor:

“The Obamas had spent their marriage debating how much change was possible within the political system and whether public life could be made livable,” Kantor writes. “The first lady was the worrier, with little trust that government could create lasting change and fear that political life was inherently corrosive.”

Kantor quotes Michelle as saying, “I didn’t come to politics with a lot of faith in the process. I didn’t believe that politics was structured in a way that could solve real problems for people.”

I understand that she is Socialist Liberal to the core, but with a little mentoring perhaps she could learn that her lack of faith in politics and government is well founded and that only people can create lasting change and solve real problems for people. The government may try, and the effort may actually be well intentioned, but any intended benefits are most often over-shadowed by the unintended consequences. Just a thought. . . .

I was driving home today and heard the song We Are the Champions, written by Freddie Mercury and performed by Queen on my favorite oldies station 96.1 The Rocket out of Mobile, AL. As I listened to the lyrics of the song, the thought came to me that we need a president who still believes that we ARE the champions of the world and has the ability to make the American People not only remember our heritage but to realize that we have yet to reach our full potential. We need a president who has enough confidence in the American People to work to remove all of the obstacles that previous leaders have allowed to be put in our way, so that WE can pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and create an economic recovery that will last for years. In the name of helping us and protecting us, I guess from ourselves, the government that used to be of the people and by the people seems to have become a government of elitists who think they know what is better for us than we do.

Who will be that leader? Certainly not our current president. In my opinion, if he ever thought we WERE the champions of the world, he believes we cheated to get there – and wants to apologize for it. Is that leader Mitt Romney? I don’t think he is. Again, in my opinion, he is at best a weak leader who let himself be pushed into enacting socialized medicine in his home state and at worst, he himself has socialist tendencies. Is it Herman Caine? Perhaps, but while he has proven himself to be a capable and successful business leader, he doesn’t have a track record in running a government, and there is a difference. Michelle Bachman? Sarah Palin? In my opinion, either is more capable of running this country than the people who are ruining, er, uh, I mean running it today. Newt Gringrich? He is likely the most qualified, and the most intelligent of the candidates, but he has been so demonized by the State Run Media that I don’t believe he could be successful. Ron Paul? NO. What about Rick Santorum? He is both a social and fiscal conservative, and has the right ideas about illegal immigration. He has gone on the record stating that we should enforce the immigration laws we currently have, instead of creating new ones, and believes that we should actively protect our borders. I personally think that he would likely be a good leader, but he isn’t well known enough. Who does that leave? Rick Perry.

Governor Perry is both a fiscal and social conservative. He is not ashamed of his Christian faith, proven by having the courage to publically call for prayer on multiple occasions. Governor Perry believes in the Second Amendment, has had the courage to criticize Social Security and admit that something has to be done in order to make it solvent, is Pro-Life, pro-states rights, anti-tax, anti-regulation, pro-Isreal, and on and on.

However, Governor Perry also has the personality trait that has been called “Swagger”. In the tumultuous world we live in today, we need someone with Swagger leading our country. He commands respect simply by walking into a room. I remember, the comment being made about President Reagan that having him in the White House was equal to having an extra Air Craft Carrier group or a couple of Army Divisions. He had a presence that commanded respect, and I believe Governor Perry has that same presence about him. I think he believes we are still the champions of the world and possesses the charisma to remind the American People of that fact and make us believe in ourselves again.

I’ve heard it said that the national elections in 2012 will determine the success or failure of our great nation. We will either begin to regain the freedoms that have been slowly stolen from us over the last few years, or we will complete the slippery slide to Socialism, based on who we choose to run our country. I for one will be voting for Governor Perry in my state’s GOP primary and praying that he wins the party’s nomination and then the presidency. We need a strong person, with the courage to provide principled leadership based on the ideas that our great nation was founded upon and Rick Perry is that leader.

If you believe that WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD, please share this message with your family and friends.

Thanks,
Bill

‘MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL’
You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news On September 11, 2001. Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say ‘Good-Bye.’ I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, ‘Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK..I am ready to go.’

I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn’t coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help. ‘I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!’ I said. ‘Of course I will show you the way home – only believe in Me now.’

I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.

I was in Texas, Virginia, California, Michigan, and Afghanistan. I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name – though not all know Me. Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath. Some couldn’t hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; ‘Come to Me… this way… take my hand.’ Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me. But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You may not know why, but I do.. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey for you. But someday your journey will end. And I will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are ‘ready to go.’

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments,
God
____________________________________________________________
My good friend Blair Sherwood shared this with me via an email, and I think it is fitting to share it with you on this day of rememberance. Thank you, Blair!

There may be an overtly political reason that moviegoers will be seeing the story of the Osama bin Laden raid just before they vote for president. Sony Pictures, the company distributing next year’s film, hosted a fundraiser for Barack Obama on their studio’s premises in California last April.

Years of liberal dogma have spawned a generation of amoral, uneducated, welfare dependent, brutalised youngsters
A few weeks after the U.S. city of Detroit was ravaged by 1967 race riots in which 43 people died, I was shown around the wrecked areas by a black reporter named Joe Strickland.
He said: ‘Don’t you believe all that stuff people here are giving media folk about how sorry they are about what happened. When they talk to each other, they say: “It was a great fire, man!”

Limbaugh Unveils Obama’s Alleged Enemies List
Rush starts naming some of the people/businesses that he thinks President Obama hates. This includes, but is not limited to: “Insurance companies, oil companies, coal companies, S&P, rich people, corporate jet owners, corporate jet manufactures, yacht owners, credit card companies, student loan companies, McDonald’s, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Koch brothers, the Supreme Court, BiBi Netanyahu, Arizona and Texas.” “You notice Obama is at war with an endless list of enemies?” Rush Limbaugh asks his audience.

S&P balks at SEC plan to reveal rating errors
Standard & Poor’s, whose unprecedented downgrade of U.S. debt triggered a global stocks sell-off, is pushing back against a government proposal that would require credit raters to disclose “significant errors” in how they calculate their ratings.

No rest for investors: Dow plunges 520
(http://money.cnn.com/2011/08/10/markets/markets_newyork/index.htm?hpt=hp_t2)
After a one-day respite, U.S. stocks plunged sharply yet again Wednesday as investors were confronted with mounting fears about Europe’s ongoing debt crisis, this time in France.

‘Mourning’ in America: What must be done about a depressed nation
Recent polls confirm that the country is desperately looking for those lights amid continuing economic malaise. But positive signs are hard to find.

What America needs is a strong presidential candidate who will make us proud to be Americans again. Someone with the courage to say exactly what he, OR SHE will do to resolve our economic woes, without breaking our promises to senior citizens, and without devastating the military. Someone who will not only tell us what he or she plans to do, i.e. make promises, but also how he or she will keep those promises. Give us the facts, not a bunch of empty rhetoric. We need someone who will stand up for America, not apologize for our greatness. Someone who will put America and the interests of her citizens first. Someone who will protect our borders, not open them, and someone who will protect our industries, just as others countries protect theirs. Who will step out and be that someone?
