Sunday’s Recap – A review of this past week’s posts from The Conservative Nation
Sunday seems to be a good day to review some of the news events of the past week, some that I have written about and maybe some that I haven’t. If you would like to receive this weekly review via email, send me a note to bill@theconservativenation.com. This week’s review includes:
Can Angela Merkel Be Our President For Just A Little While, Please?
German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to cut taxes, in spite of the country’s soaring budget deficit. Lower incomes taxes would “provide motivation” and encourage economic growth, Ms. Merkel told a conference of her party, the Christian Democratic Union, and its Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union. “It would be wrong not to do what is right and necessary for growth, and so prevent ourselves emerging quickly from this crisis,” Ms. Merkel said in her conference speech.
Inconvenient Truth: EPA Researcher Talks About Shelving of Report That Questioned Global Warming Science
An EPA researcher claims that his internal report which questions the science behind Global Warming was hushed by the EPA. Alan Carlin, the EPA researcher said, “The most important finding was that EPA, in my view, needed to look at the science behind global warming and not depend on reports issued by the United Nations which is what they were thinking of doing and have done.”
Obama’s Approval Index Rating Takes a Dive
Fox News: Today’s Rasmussen reports presidential tracking poll shows that 31 percent of voters surveyed strongly approve of the job president Obama is doing. But 33 percent strongly disapprove. That means the president’s approval index rating has fallen below zero for the third time in 10 days.
Is Obama Preparing For A Third Term?
Today Rush Limbaugh talked about the possibility that President Obama is already laying the groundwork for a third term as president. He may be right, because there is already legislation that has been introduced by Rep. Jose Serrano, D-N.Y to repeal the 22nd Amendment. There is also a website, “end22.com” that is asking for donations to fund a grass-roots effort to repeal the amendment that limits a person from serving more that two full terms as president. For those that are not aware, the 22nd Amendment was passed in 1951 due to Franklin D. Roosevelt’s election to four terms as president.
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Title And Salary List
In the spirit of transparency, the Obama Administration posted on its White House blog a detailed list of the titles and salary of the staff working at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The Conservative Nation has obtained a link to the list and is making it available for your review.
White House Responds to Uproar Over Pricey Washington Post Lobbyist Event
Politico: White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked Thursday in the briefing room if anyone from the White House was invited to attend the salons, and what the policy is for attending such events. “I don’t know if anybody here was,” Gibbs said. “I think some people in the administration, writ large, may have been invited. I do not believe, based on what I’ve been able to check, anyone has accepted the invitations.” Gibbs said that the White House counsel would review such invitations and that they “would likely exceed” what would be considered appropriate.
Palin resigning as governor by end of July, not seeking re-election
Sarah Palin has chosen to resign her position as governor of Alaska. What a loss for the state. Despite the massive amount of criticism thrown at her by the state run media and liberal comedians, she is a very bright and qualified individual. I hope that this is not the last we see of her, though one couldn’t blame her for stepping out of politics completely. Yes, I know that the leading theory is that she stepped down to focus on a 2012 presidential campaign. Which ever way you choose to go, Good Luck in your future, Governor Palin!
Happy Independence Day From The Conservative Nation
At a time when it seems that the U.S. Government is assuming a larger and ever-growing role in the lives of citizens, I thought it would be fitting to post The Declaration of Independence and a brief synopsis of the history that led to its creation.
That’s it for this week’s review. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for taking the time to read my blog, and to encourage you to talk back to me by leaving a comment or two.
