Sunday’s Recap – A review of this past week’s posts from The Conservative Nation

By Bill ~ June 28th, 2009 @ 6:42 pm

Sunday seems to be a good day to review some of the news events of the past week, some that I have written about and maybe some that I haven’t. If you would like to receive this weekly review via email, send me a note to bill@theconservativenation.com. This week’s review includes:

A nuclear war may be on the way
The North Koreans have already developed and tested nuclear weapons. The Iranians are hard at work on their nuclear program. Now Al-Qaida says it would use Pakistan’s nukes on America if it gets its hands on them. While it has not been publicized, I for one find it hard to believe that the North Koreans are not assisting the Iranians with realizing their nuclear ambitions. What a formidable foe these two countries would present to our nation if they were to unite-even if we weren’t already engaged in two wars.

Get Out Of Our House (GOOOH.com)
A friend told me about an interesting new organization called GOOOH.com. The acronym stands for “Get Out Of Our House” and is pronounced like the word “go”. According to the organization’s mission statement, it is a NON-PARTISAN plan to evict the 435 career politicians in the U.S. House of Representatives and replace them with everyday Americans just like you. GOOOH is NOT just another political party. It is a system that will allow you and your neighbors to choose, among yourselves, the person who can best represent your district.

ACLU Sues Government Organization For NOT Allowing Prayer
The ACLU, that astute organization who has a history of suing government organizations over any mention of God or any religious act, like a ball team having a prayer or a student leading a prayer at a ballgame, is now suing the Bureau of Prisons for not allowing prisoners to participate in prayer groups often enough. Why, ACLU, are you so concerned about these terrorists’ right to practice their religion, and to have it sponsored by the state? You are quick to do everything in your power to stop American citizens from practicing any religion, except maybe the religions of Liberalism and Atheism, when there is even a hint of state sponsorship.

Socialist Democrats Pass Cap And Trade Bill
The Socialist Democrats in the House of Representatives, led by Nancy Pelosi and Henry Waxman, have done it to us again. This time they have passed their Cap and Trade Bill, a 1200 + page boondoggle that few of them have even taken the time to read. This bill is projected to harm the manufacturing sector and cause estimated “net” job losses, averaging about 1.15 million between 2012 and 2030. The overall gross domestic product losses would average $393 billion per year from 2012 to 2035, and the cumulative loss in gross domestic product would be $9.4 trillion by 2035. The national debt for a family of four would increase by $115,000 by 2035. All of this and there is little chance that the measure will be successful in accomplishing what is intended.

Audit The Fed
I’m sure you remember TX Congressman and 2008 presidential candidate Ron Paul, whose smaller government platform may have been a couple of years ahead of its time. After becoming fed up with an inability to discover what the Federal Reserve is doing with the trillions of dollars of tax-payer money, Congress Paul has introduced HR 1207, a bill to audit the Federal Reserve. Ron Paul’s legislation is aimed at pulling back the curtain from a secretive and unaccountable Federal Reserve. Congress and the American people have minimal, if any, oversight over trillions of dollars that the Fed controls.

That’s it for this week’s review. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for taking the time to read my blog, and to encourage you to talk back to me by leaving a comment or two. Also, if you want to write an article, let me know. Remember, if you would like to receive this weekly review via email, send a note to bill@theconservativenation.com.
