President Obama’s First 100 Days and His Plans for the Next 100
President Obama marked his 100 day anniversary today by stating in a town hall address that “we’ve begun the work of remaking America.” Unfortunately for us, the remaking is actually a reshaping towards socialism. He went on to say:
We have begun to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off. I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made, but I’m not satisfied. I’m confident in the future, but I’m not content with the present.
His plans for the next 100 days include getting his proposals on the budget, health and energy pushed through Congress, and dealing with the war in Afghanistan. I can’t help but wonder how he plans on funding all of his ambitious plans. Between President Bush’s TARP bailout, President Obama’s stimulus plan, and his $3.4 Trillion budget, the government has already placed the financial future of our children and grandchildren in jeopardy. I just don’t see how we can realistically expect to continue coming up with borrowed money to pay for all of these new social plans.
The amazing thing to me is that Obama has the audacity to disclaim any responsibility for the budget deficit. Even though his predecessor was still in office when much of the current deficit spending was put in place, as a Senator in the Democrat controlled congress, he readily voted for the out-of-balance budget. As a presidential candidate and president-elect, he backed the twilight Bush-era stimulus plan that made the deficit deeper, all before he took over and promoted spending plans that have made it much deeper. It is going to be a long time until the 2010 elections, with both houses of congress under the control of Democrats. There is plenty of time for them to spend, spend, spend and there is no guarantee that they will lose control of either the house or the senate in the next election. Once again, I have to say that the most patriotic thing we can do for our country is Pray.
