A song some radio stations are banning

By Bill ~ April 19th, 2009 @ 12:35 pm

The song you are about to listen to is from a Las Vegas Diamond Rio concert. They received an immediate, resounding standing ovation, and continue to do so every time they perform it! Sadly, major radio stations wouldn’t play it because it was considered “politically incorrect.” Consequently, the song was never released to the public. So, America, see what you think.. If this offering speaks to your heart and you feel you want to share it with friends and loved ones, please do.

If you like this, please take a few moments to view this cartoon from 1948. It is more relevant today than it was then.

It doesn’t sound like it’s from a live concert. Sounds like it’s from a recording studio. Why do you say it’s from a concert? Is it on their CD?

And why is it considered politically incorrect anyway, with other songs on the radio like “Me and God.”

It’s just weird. I got an email with the subject line being the same as your post here with the video and was hesitant to open the file so I googled the subject line and came across your post. Mind if I ask where you found it?

    Amy,
I’m not a musician, so I can’t intelligently debate whether this particular cut was recorded live or in the studio. Nor, do I know if the song has been included on their latest CD. I myself do not understand why it is considered politically incorrect-it shouldn’t be. I suppose, like most other instances of this nature, it is another case of political correctness gone wild. You ask where I found this song. I have a friend who helps me with content from time to time and he suggested this song. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my post.
    Regards,
    Bill

This sound more like a publicity stunt than anything else. Many songs don’t get airplay for a lot of reasons. Maybe this is diamond rio’s attempt to get some face time in the press. I can’t find any links to any story or memo from any radio stations sayin this song is banned. I’m a musican and they aren’t playing my songs either. I bet they were banned too. Its a conspiracy!!!

    ERK,
One thing that I don’t know is whether or not Diamond Rio actually released the song. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and comment on it. Good luck with your music career. What genre do you play?
    Regards,
    Bill

Where ever it came from and for whatever reason I received an email with this post also.
I am so glad I did.
    I listened and watched.
I love this song and slide video show.
I forwarded it to all my friends.

Thank you, Theresa, for your kind remarks and for spreading the word. I also think it is a great song.
    Best regards,
    Bill

I received this email forward today. It is making the rounds, that’s for sure. However, as with all forwarded email, I did some searching to check validity – I found it uploaded to You Tube, time and date stamped over 3 years ago. I also found on Snopes that this forwarded email has been making rounds since 2006.
Apparently, the song was originally performed live and when they finally did make a recording (you DO need to make a recording to get played on the radio), it was not a single and not promoted to radio. Additionally, the Snopes article points out – as did a previous poster – that the claim that the pro-religion subject matter was the problem, doesn’t hold water in the light of the hits that other artists had with songs such as: Toby Keith – “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue”, and “American Soldier”. Also Brooks and Dunn’s, “Believe” and Carrie Underwood’s, “Jesus Take the Wheel”. See Snopes article here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/diamondrio.asp.
I’m afraid that this email is just more “right wing forward” propaganda.

I have to say that there are a lot of emails that float around and most of them are not true! With this email, whether the song is or isn’t being played for political reasons I will say it holds water. Our country has done and been doing exactly what the song says. It amazes me that when people get into trouble or having bad times, they tend to bow their heads and pray! Look to God for answers and help. Our country is letting the few dictate to the masses. They need to release this song and stations across America should play this song until we’re sick of hearing it. Then they need to continue to playing it more. WE NEED IT!

I would love a copy of this song. This song NEEDS to be pulish, I would buy one

Not so much “politically incorrect” as factually incorrect. The founding fathers (Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Hamilton, Franklin, Paine, etc) were mostly Deists, not Christians and they would be aghast at the suggestion that the USA was founded as a “Christian Nation”. It is simply not true.

Revisionist history with a hint of bigotry that only tugs at the heart if the brain is on pause.

    Hey Bill !

Thanks for the song and video. I’ve not heard it before but enjoyed it because together they present some truths we’ve forgotten or choose to ignore. Our government continues to push the nation away from our traditional Judeo-Christian roots and has waged a not-so-quiet war against some religions — with Christianity taking the majority of attacks — on a daily basis. All the while, our government has opened wide the doors
to persons with religious beliefs and practices whose sole purpose is the complete destruction and domination of the United States, as we know it, and the forcing of U.S. citizens to live as slaves under their religion of intolerance and death —– with death to those who do not comply. We have sheepishly allowed our religious. (and other), freedoms to be weakened or boldly ignored by those in authority. People who fail to recognize these affronts on one of our basic freedoms have either buried their head in the ground or persist in living with their head properly packed and positioned in an area of the body the sun does not shine.

    Travis

    Wake up America !

    Omar,

Not “most”, but a few of our Founders were Deists. You’re correct about Jefferson and Franklin, but not Washington, Hamilton, or even Adams. Revisionist history may come from both sides of the debate, but please get your facts straight. Why did the Pilgrims originally come? For religious freedom. If you read our monument’s inscriptions, the Federalist Papers, and the Declaration of Independence, on what religion was this country founded? And what do you mean by bigotry? Have people who claimed to be Christ-followers given Him a bad name? Yes, but don’t call all of us bigots. “The brain on pause.” Hmm…look in the mirror.

here’s some more information about this song http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/diamondrio.asp

Snopes is just a married couple who started this as a hobby, they don’t have a bunch of researchers, they have been wrong on numerous occasions. Either way it is still a good song!

Those who claim we are a christian nation and try to back it up with using the constitution need to read it again. Especialy the establishment clause of the First Amendment. To be a christian nation would mean that it is an established religion. someone asked why did the pilgrims come here? for religious freedom. EXACTLY! that means not having one religion forced on us. The anglican church that they refused to be a part of in england left, even though that was by definition a christian religion. Nothing good comes from a government forcing one religion on it’s people. You don’t like the government sticking it’s nose where you don’t want it, what makes you think we want chrisitians using the government to stick it where we don’t want it?

Here In America we trust in God!

People and their lack of knowledge-common sense on how this country began, and will continue to stand is ruining this country.

We the people need to stand up for our country just like Diamond Rio has done, and speak our voice, and protect our Nation under God!

Therefore, I will be contacting all area radio stations, posting on facebook, and emailing as many people spreading the word to reach out to the radio stations, and play this song.

It is sad that we as Americans cannot even agree on whether or not a song has been banned. It is a simple question and one that is apparently untrue. So either we need to request this song be played on air or contact the powers that be in the Diamond Rio area and request that is made a single and let it get some airplay. Then all these peole who enjoy the song (myself included) could go buy it and drive around with this playing and thumping and bumping in the speakers of our cars! Simple solution to me!

In response to the “Founding Fathers being Deists,” please read the book Sacred Fire by Peter A. Lillback. There are many quotes taken from writings of our Founding Fathers which prove otherwise.
